Greetings!
Since I last wrote this column and informed you of the Chorale’s number troubles, I am pleased to report that we have been blessed by the addition of two singers. Gayle Hilton has rejoined the alto section and Judy Butler has joined our soprano section. This is a wonderful start, but we still need your help! Surely we have more singers hiding in our congregation—who will be the next to follow in their footsteps?
We will be rehearsing Wednesdays during Lent beginning immediately after the close of the Lenten service, and we’d love to have you join us, if only to see what we’re all about. Easter is just around the corner, and with it the Chorale’s third annual performance of that choral masterwork, Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus.” This year we will be adding several other choral movements from Handel’s Messiah, which should make for a glorious Easter morn!
I would like to once again extend an invitation for you to join us for our Lenten meals and services Wednesday nights throughout Lent as we worship with Marty Haugen’s beautiful setting of the Evening Prayer. The service music is reverent, beautiful, and quite singable, and is enhanced by the leadership of Chorale members and the flute playing of Chorale member Cait Jacob. The Chorale and I look forward to seeing you there!
In music, Todd
