The Bible Made Easy

On a shelf in my study is a book entitled The Bible Made Easy written by Mark Water. It is a small pamphlet with the sub-title “An easy-to-understand pocket reference guide.” There are certainly quite a few helpful bits of information presented, and I was interested as I picked it up and surveyed some of the topics. In fact, I read through the entire book in about thirty minutes. It is true to say that it reminded me of things I had learned previously as well as presenting a few things that I had either forgotten or never learned. But when I finished, while I had some facts to toss around, the connections between the Old Testament and the New Testament, and the connections between God and humanity, were not the prominent theme or even overtly stated. It was, as I said, a book full of facts.

The word is the heart and spirit of the church; the congregation is its lifeblood. The spiritual journey of life is more than attending church on Sunday morning and Christian education. Sharing ourselves, our families, and our beliefs through formal and informal interaction is the ultimate expression of who we are and the way we live.

St. John's encourages a variety of fellowship programs to promote positive interaction and to give members the support they need in today's world. The diverse programs are designed to uplift the spirit and the body of every member through a diverse offering of programs to promote education and fellowship.

Little Luther League

Christian education and fellowship begins, not with adults, but with the children in our church family. The Little Luther League is a fun way to lay the foundation for supporting your child's involvement within the church, and teaching community service at an early age.

All little ones age 2 through 10 and their parents are invited to join the Little Luther League on the second Sunday of each month in the parish hall. The fun starts at 5:00 p.m. with music with "Mr. Todd", followed by dinner at 5:30 p.m. and a craft at 6:00 p.m. for all the kids. Seasonal activities are also coordinated throughout the year.
